Our Story

The Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia began meeting in 1973 and was incorporated in the State of Georgia on March 29, 1974, with the purpose of promoting the development, building, constructing and providing well-built homes for the citizens of the State of Georgia and the dissemination of trade information and ideas to members of the Association in the home builder industry and to promote the improvement and betterment of the home builder industry to the benefit of its members.

Since the first meeting of the Association in 1973, we have grown to as many as 760 members strong. With the recent downturn in the building industry as of 05/23/2013, the Association has 150 members. Thank you to those members who have faith the industry WILL survive and have renewed!

The official jurisdiction of Midwest Georgia includes ten counties: Butts, Coweta, Fayette, Heard, Jasper, Lamar, Meriwether, Pike, Spalding and Upson.

The Association has celebrated many milestones over the past 39 years, but what a proud moment on August 19, 2004, when 160 members gathered at a gala honoring the HBA's 30 years. A special event of the evening was the cutting of a 30th birthday cake by founding President J.C. Brogdon, 2003-2004 President Mac McKinney, and Executive Officer Sandy Boda.

Other Past Presidents on hand for the celebration were Bob Dixon, Jerry Tedder, Gene Barber, Chris Parrott, Michael Rossetti, Ray Rogerson, Vince Rossetti, Dennis Floyd, Jeff Betsill, and Eddie Lusher. Also present for the special occasion were Robin Keesal, the associations' First Executive officer, and Huie L. Bray, who served on the organization's first Board of Directors.
